Apple Muffins Recipe

What else could be better for a sunny morning than apple muffins as breakfast? It’s a great way to start your day, with baked goods ready to be served together with a glass of milk. This wonderful breakfast recipe also goes as a delicious dessert, with simple preparatory steps and great results. This is the apple muffin recipe.

The small breads which come in cupcake shapes, also known as muffins, constitute a wide variety of sweet treats available on the market. Sweet or unsweetened, muffins are a modern rather than ancient inventions of contemporary baking.

Created somewhere around the '70s, muffins gained so much popularity, that a whole muffin industry soon developed. Nowadays, some of them even constitute a state’s symbol, like the blueberry muffin which is the symbol of Minnesota, or the corn muffin, which represents the state of Massachusetts.

Popular both in Europe and in the United States, the most sought-after muffin available is undoubtedly the English muffin, a thick fluffy pastry product which is consumed in endless ways.

Usually, it is split into two, buttered and toasted, but this isn’t a strict rule. Corn muffins are also extremely popular in the US, these delicious desserts are made of cornmeal and tend to be sweeter than the other variations of the traditional recipe.

The apple muffin recipe is a classical sweet delicatessen, easy to bake at home, with a memorably delicious taste, representing one great breakfast suggestion worth trying. Here are the necessary ingredients, which serve for 12:

  • 1/2 cup of butter at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 and 1/4 cups of buttermilk
  • 4 cups of flour
  • 3 tbsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled McIntosh apples, sliced in 1/2-inch pieces
  • additional brown sugar to top muffin

  • The preparation steps will prove to be quite simple. First, use a rubber spatula in order to cream the butter. Cream it until it’s fluffy then add the eggs and the vanilla. Repeatedly beat these until the mixture becomes fluffy, furthermore add the buttermilk. It’s now time to appeal to the rest of the ingredients: mix the flour, the baking soda, the cinnamon and some salt.

    Stir well so that lumps are prevented or dissolved, and then add the apple slices. In a preheated oven (7375F degrees) take the muffin cups and spray them with non-sticky vegetable oil. Pour the batter and coat the muffin cups, measuring 2 inches across the bottom and 3 across the top. Sprinkle on each muffin some brown sugar finally put these into oven for 25 minutes. Your breakfast apple muffins are now ready to be served!
